This commitment to sustainability extends beyond our own operations and includes the way we source materials, engage with all those we do business with and support our local communities. BlueScope embraces circular economy principles in product development, including designing products for durability and resilience. Steel is strong, durable, and versatile and its inherent properties allow it to be recycled without loss of quality over and over again. In some cases, it can be reused without reprocessing, saving on energy and resource use.
We strive to reduce the embodied carbon of our products, which is supported by our climate strategy and plans, including our goal of net zero emissions across our operations by 20501. We transparently report the environmental impact of a number of our key products, including greenhouse gas emissions, via Environmental Product Declarations which are published in line with European Standard EN15804 and registered with EPD Australasia. A number of our products are also certified to the internationally recognised ecolabel Global GreenTagCertTM GreenRateTM.
